Introduction

General Description

The Real Estate Division is seeking candidates to fill a Property Agent vacancy. This skilled work includes processing routine temporary revocable easements, rights of entry and real estate service requests in addition to preparing basic legal forms and transactional documents. Performing basic components of professional level acquisition, disposition and property management are also essential functions of a Property Agent. The position is customer service oriented which involves responding to requests for information and communicating with the public. Knowledgeable problem solvers are needed to perform a variety of functions which may include resolving property management issues, addressing delinquent payments by providing resolutions and guidance to tenants. Candidates must possess strong communication skills to accurately and effectively communicate with other departments, consultants, contractors and other internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Functions

Processes routine temporary revocable easements, rights of entry and real estate service requests under general supervision. 

Performs the basic components of professional level acquisition, disposition, and property management.

Prepares basic legal forms and transactional documents within established procedures.

Tracks project status.  Prepares Reports. Updates and maintains GIS databases.

Communicates accurately and effectively with City Consultants, Contractors, City Departments, and various internal and external stakeholders.

Utilizes appraisal reports, legal descriptions, subdivision plats and engineering plans, ensuring accuracy and compliance with operating procedures.

Responds to requests for information and explains procedure to the Public. 

Performs basic to semi complex research as necessary. Supports higher level classifications including data entry and file management.

Assists with the necessary data gathering and background information for public meeting communications. 

Attends public meetings upon request.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education Level & Type: Associate's Degree

Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 2 years in real estate transactions involving appraisal, title examination, purchase, sale, exchange and lease of property, and right of way

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position may be considered.

Selection Plan

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated on the education and work experience in their employment profile and the responses to their supplemental questions. The highest scoring applicants will then be invited to participate in an Oral Board interview.

Upon completion of all examination processes, the highest scoring applicants will be placed on an Eligibility List.  An applicant's ranking on the list will be based on their final score which will be calculated as:

  • 10% of your rating for education and work experience
  • 90% of your oral board interview

The list may be used by any City department with an approved vacancy to fill in the next 6 months. Selection will be made in accordance with CSR III, Section 2. The list of employees eligible for consideration will remain in effect for 6 months after their names are provided to the hiring authorities. Examination results and current status will be communicated by email.

Conclusion

This position requires a satisfactory Criminal Background Check and Motor Vehicle History Report.  Reference checks may also be conducted prior to an offer of employment.  Employment offers are contingent upon successfully passing any of the above requirements. The following information pertains to driving requirements for this classification with the City of Tucson. Under "Driving Level" None, Secondary or Primary, refers to the driving responsibility as it relates to the essential functions of the classification. License Type, is just that, the type of Arizona Driving License required for the classification. If the position requires a Commercial Drivers License (CDL), the endorsements will be listed under "Endorsements." Under Safety Sensitive a "Yes" means employees with this classification are subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. License Type A,B,C,D, or M may require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage. Exceptions to classification driving requirement's may exist based on position.
