Introduction

The City of Tucson is seeking enthusiastic and energetic

GENERAL LABORERS - POOL OF WORKERS

to provide excellent customer service for internal and external customers.

G.E.D may be waived.

General Description

This is a non-permanent position that will work on an intermittent or seasonal basis.

Individuals in this classification may not exceed 1,300 hours in a 12-month period.

The General Laborer inventories, maintains and repairs archived City documents, and researches and retrieves information or labor work for internal and external customers.

May assist with clean up of non-landscape areas within city right-of-way, drainages and alleys.

Field laborers will be responsible for providing their own safety footwear prior to the beginning of their assignment.

Essential Functions

Duties may include cleaning and preparing a jobsite, loading and delivering materials;  

Laborers set up and take down ladders, scaffolding, and other temporary structures. 

Moving items from place to place, according to direction from the site supervisor.

Moving dirt or other material as directed in plans or by supervisor.

Remove debris and weeds from City rights-of-way and grounds.

Assist in storm post clean up.

Clean up of non-landscape areas to include backyard walls and/or noise walls facing the roadway and vegetation overgrowth impacting sight visibility or encroaching into the travel way.

May perform general maintenance duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education Level & Type: High School Diploma or G.E.D. (G.E.D. may be waived).

Minimum Experience Qualifications: Under 1 year performing field labor work. 

Special Job Requirements

Bilingual - Fluent in Spanish speaking
