The Department of Transportation is seeking a team oriented, motivated individual to serve as a Senior Trades Helper in the Streets and Traffic Maintenance section of the Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting sign fabricators, traffic control technicians, and construction personnel with assigned tasks. The daily work schedule will vary based on demand and will require the qualified individual to operate a fork lift, work with hand and power tools, and operate a machine press.

Maintains streetlights by troubleshooting problems, changing and replacing broken and shorted components, replacing and assembling fallen traffic signals and poles, and responding to emergency calls.
Performs preventive maintenance on equipment by lubricating and greasing moving parts, checking fluid levels, making necessary repairs, and assisting in replacing parts.
Promotes shop and employee safety by attending and making presentations at safety meetings, inspecting fire extinguishers, hoists, electric cords and other parts, and completing forms for safety records.Builds and fabricates parts and materials by measuring and cutting materials and laying out, aligning, and welding parts and materials.
