Introduction

The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation Department is looking for experienced, enthusiastic

LITTLE MOVERS AND SHAKERS CLASS INSTRUCTORS

to lead adults and children in playgroup style classes at the Randolph Recreation Center.

General Description

This is a non-permanent position that will work on an intermittent or seasonal basis.

Individuals in this classification may not exceed 1,300 hours in a 12-month period.

This posting is for Little Movers and Shakers classes for ages 3-5 years.

The Little Movers and Shakers classes are held at Randolph Recreation Center. 

Current openings are Monday - Friday beginning at 9:00 am.

 

This position provides service to the patrons of the City of Tucson Parks and Recreation Leisure Class program and is responsible for planning and conducting motor development classes.

Please note that the position of Class Instructor encompasses multiple specialized recreational areas and site locations, classes are held throughout the week, with various day and evening classes as well as Saturdays and Sundays.

Essential Functions

Lead parents/adults and children in participant involved playgroups focusing on skills in motor development

Conducts instructions in motor development in connections with the fee instruction program offered to the public by the Parks and Recreations Department

Follows curriculum based teaching

Supervises the activities of program participants to ensure participant's safety during the instructional process; follows appropriate emergency procedures to protect the well-being of participants

Adheres to applicable Parks and Recreation procedures, rule and regulations; completed required forms and activity records and reports; communicates with parents of school age participants, as needed

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education Level & Type: 6 months post High School

Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 1 year in a specialized recreational area

Special Job Requirements

All candidates must be able to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification and pass a background screening upon hire.

Selection Plan

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated on their employment profile's education and work experience and the response to the supplemental questions. The highest scoring applicants will be invited to participate in an Oral Board Interview.

  • Oral Board Interviews will be held: Week of December 27, 2021

The highest scoring applicants will be placed in the "Best Qualified" and "Qualified" band (grouping) and provided to the hiring department for a selection decision. An applicant's placement on the list will be based on their final score, which will be calculated as: 

  • 20% of your rating for Training and Experience 
  • 80% of your Oral Board Interview
