This is a lead position affording guidance to other positions performing the same tasks. This lead position also reviews workloads, assigns work and coaches employees with specialized instructions and practices for job accomplishments.Lead personnel may contribute to other employees' performance evaluations, assist with the hiring process by interviewing and making recommendations and providing input to supervisory staff.
Engineers, designs, tests and implements Wide Area Network topologies and configurations. Monitors and optimizes performance of the operational data network.
Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots routers and switches in located City equipment closets.
Ensures the resiliency and redundancy of the City data networks.
Evaluates vendor products for Wide Area Network hardware and software and makes recommendations for purchases that are consistent with short and long term Information Technology and City strategy.
Establishes WAN policies, standards, and procedures and ensure adherence to City system security procedures.
Coordinates with network liaisons and user departments to develop resource needs and upgrade plans.
Minimum Education Level & Type: Bachelor's Degree
Minimum Experience and Qualifications: At least 3 years of experience in wide area network administration. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
