The City of Tucson Department of Transportation
and Mobility (DTM) is seeking qualified applicants to join our diverse,

The Pavement Management unit is seeking a highly motivated individual to provide professional-level customer service by inspecting and inventorying roadways for the City of Tucson and Pima Association of Governments (PAG). This position requires the use of specific software, operation of a technical "road analyzer" vehicle and a substantial amount of field work.
Manages and coordinates roadway data collection,
asset management and data analysis for DTM and PAG Regional partner agencies.
Produces and reviews reports, plans, maps, and
provides customer service.
Operates and maintains the Automated Road
Analyzer (ARAN) van on a continual basis which includes vehicular, computer
systems/instrumentation, and software components.
Performs street inspections including PASER
(Pavement Surface Evaluation and Rating) and PCI (Pavement Condition Index)
which involve “windshield” and roadside data collection and analysis.
Manages, updates and maintains records in
Cartêgraph OMS asset management database as it pertains to pavement assets.
Manages projects and coordinates and corresponds
with contractors, developers, public agencies and technical support staff by
preparing plans and specifications, reviewing drawings and plans, conducting
and attending meetings, answering questions, creating and delivering
presentations, providing advice, participating in public outreach, resolving
problems, developing and maintaining project budgets and schedules, tracking
and reviewing agreements and monetary changes, processing pay estimates,
preparing, updating and distributing logs, verifying billings submitted by
contractors and conducting field inspections.
Reviews plans and reports by researching and
reviewing plats, plans, statements, reports, and contracts for compliance with
regulations and specifications, verifying data and calculations, identifying
and resolving conflicts and reviewing system capabilities and proposed
enhancements.
Guides technicians, interns or other personnel
by monitoring and reviewing projects, prioritizing and distributing workloads,
communicating, corresponding and sharing expertise.
Provides customer service by answering
questions, researching information and problems, retrieving files and maps,
providing permit application approval and review, handling complaints and
violations and identifying solutions.
Initiates maintenance requests.
Maintains files, receives and sends
correspondence, reviews city requests, creates and maintains models and maps,
compiles and analyzes data, provides information regarding policies and
procedures, rules, regulations and codes, and prepares reports.
Occasionally directs helpers, assistants,
seasonal employees, interns, volunteers or temporary employees and may
temporarily act in a higher capacity.
Minimum Education Level & Type: Associate's
Degree in Engineering, Architecture or a closely related field.
Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 2
years of engineering experience utilizing principles and practices of civil
engineering and the methods and techniques used in planning, design, and
construction.
An equivalent combination of education, training
and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to
perform the essential functions of this position may be considered.
A valid Driver’s License.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, relational
databases (SQL), and ESRI Maps and ArcGIS software.
Knowledge of roadway design and construction.
Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated on the education and work experience in their employment profile, responses to their supplemental questions and a review of their cover letter and resume.
The highest scoring applicants will then be invited to participate in an Oral Board Interview
Upon completion of all examination processes, the highest scoring applicants will be placed on the Civil Service Employment List. An applicant's ranking on the Civil Service list will be based on their final score which will be calculated as:
