Introduction

The City of Tucson is seeking enthusiastic and energetic

GENERAL LABORERS

to provide excellent customer service for internal and external customers.

General Description

This is a non-permanent position that will work on an intermittent or seasonal basis.

Individuals in this classification may not exceed 1,300 hours in a 12-month period.

The General Laboarer inventories, maintains and repairs archived City documents, and researches and retrieves information for internal and external customers.

Essential Functions

Inventories and indexes records and documents by typing records from old series and correspondence, typing index cards, processing special requests and filing records and documents.

Repairs and updates maps by listing and describing records to show evidence of materials in case of loss or damage, color coding maps and indexes, applying patches to map bases and repairing damaged materials.  

Processes customer service requests by coordinating information from older records.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education Level & Type: High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Minimum Experience Qualifications: Under 1 year in clerical and filing experience, including records maintenance.

Selection Plan

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated on the education and work experience in their employment profile and the response to the supplemental questions.

The highest scoring applicants will be placed in the "Best Qualified" and "Qualified" band (grouping) and provided to the hiring department for a selection decision. An applicant’s placement on the list will be based on their final score which will be calculated as: 

  • 100% of your rating for Training and Experience 

Selection interviews may be conducted post band list by the hiring manager.
