The Department of Transportation & Mobility-Park Tucson Division is hiring customer service oriented individuals to join our Parking Services team. Individuals in this classification would patrol neighborhoods and the Downtown, University of Arizona, Historic 4th Ave and Main Gate/Mercado districts to enforce City Parking Ordinances, provide educational opportunities, and enhance quality of living in our historic neighborhoods. General Description

Enforces City parking ordinances, monitors parking meters, signs and markings and maintains the City's parking meters and facilities. Collects monies and adds, removes and maintains meters and parking facilities, including minor repairs as required.

Essential Functions

Patrols designated area on foot, via bicycle patrol and by vehicle to monitor parking meters, signs and markings and enforce city parking ordinances.

Patrols restricted parking areas and issues warnings and citations. Lifts and applies "boot" to vehicle tires.

Performs facilities maintenance by maintaining parking facilities, cleaning floors, emptying trash, maintaining landscaping, maintaining supplies, and staying current on safety procedures.

Assists in surveying neighborhood areas and parking patterns to determine qualifications for parking permit program.

Collects money from parking meters, turns in money daily, obtains receipts, audits meters with hand held computer, audits parking meter collections.

Adds or removes meters from streets, performs routine meter maintenance on street, changes batteries semi-annually, maintains computerized collection and maintenance routes, keeps inventory of supplies.

Assists in processing parking applications and issuing permits.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education Level & Type: High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 1 year enforcing governmental codes and/or ordinances

Valid and Unrestricted Class D - Driver's License

Selection Plan

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated on the education and work experience in their employment profile and the responses to their supplemental questions. The highest scoring applicants will then be invited to participate in an Practical examination process.

Practical Exam will be held: . Thursday, May 20, 2021 (No alternative dates will be offered)

The highest scoring candidates from the practical examination process will be invited to an oral board interview.

Oral Board Interviews will be held: Friday, May 28, 2021. (No alternative dates will be offered)

Upon completion of all examination processes, the highest scoring applicants will be placed on an Eligibility List. An applicant's ranking on the list will be based on their final score which will be calculated as:

  • 10% of your rating for education and work experience
  • 10% of your resume and cover letter review
  • 20% of your rating for practical exam
  • 60% of your rating for oral board interview

The list may be used by any City department with an approved vacancy to fill in the next 6 months. Selection will be made in accordance with CSR III, Section 2.
