"One City One Team” has never been more prevalent than today. As we unite together during this COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Tucson employees continue to show perseverance and team work.

This notification is to invite City of Tucson permanent and probationary employees to submit letters of interest which the Environmental and General Services Department may review to help them meet some of their current staffing shortage.

These opportunities do not have a change in pay or title. Instead, they provide new learning and professional development opportunities for employees who may not have the a full 40 hours per week due to our current pandemic.

As developments with Coronavirus (COVID-19) continue, interested participants will be notified of opportunities as they arise, according to COT department needs. The goal of these re-deployment opportunities is to implement protocols to protect the health of COT employees, customers and vendors, through the normal course of City of Tucson business operations. Assistance in these efforts from COT staff is required and appreciated.

Essential Functions

Environmental and General Services Department  (EGSD) is taking all recommended precautions to assure employee safety. Employees will work on-site.  Re-Deployment opportunities for EGSD are as follows:

*Auto Parts Specialist* 

Assemble and maintain parts and equipment

Issue stock parts by determining items needed, pulling parts, and entering data into computer

Assist in receiving by loading and unloading items, distribute articles, complete reports, fill orders and deliver items

Replenish depleted stock, prepare orders and transfer stock

Medical requirements:  Basic Physical and 50 pound lift test

Physical requirements:  ability to bend, kneel, reach, squat and stoop

Work hours:  Monday thru Friday:  10:30 PM to 7:00 PM

 

*Fleet Services Attendant*

Maintain shop, yard and fuel islands by dumping trash, cleaning fluid spills, restocking containment and abatement supplies and disposing of used material following appropriate hazard materials instruction.

Perform weekly manual fuel tank stick measurements, add and remove vehicle decals, inspect/transport/wash/fuel vehicles.

Retrieve parts and maintain information on computer. 

Medical requirements:  Basic Physical and 50 pound lift test

Physical requirements:  ability to bend, reach, squat, climb, and stoop

Work hours:  Monday thru Friday:  11:30 AM to 8:00 PM

Pre-employment Medical Testing Requirements

Basic Physical Exam and Lift Test will be required at the City's expense.
