"One City One Team” has never been more prevalent than today. As we unite together during this COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Tucson employees continue to show perseverance and team work.

This notification is to invite City of Tucson permanent and probationary employees to submit letters of interest which the Leadership Team at Housing and Community Development Department may review to help them meet some of their current staffing shortage.

These opportunities do not have a change in pay or title. Instead, they provide new learning and professional development opportunities for employees who may not have the a full 40 hours per week due to our current pandemic.

As developments with Coronavirus (COVID-19) continue, interested participants will be notified of opportunities as they arise, according to COT department needs. The goal of these re-deployment opportunities is to implement protocols to protect the health of COT employees, customers and vendors, through the normal course of City of Tucson business operations. Assistance in these efforts from COT staff is required and appreciated.

Essential Functions

The Housing & Community Development Department is taking all recommended precautions to assure employee safety. At this time, employees are working on site but the building is still closed to the public.

Re-Deployment opportunities for Housing and Community Development Department are as follows:

*Housing Specialist:
Review incoming packets of eligibility documents for completeness..
Create and file work orders.
Listen to and document voice mails.
Assist with file maintenance to include creating new files, preparing files for archive, etc.
Enter Inspection records in software program.
File paperwork in client files.
Contact landlords via phone or email to obtain missing documents.
Scan permanent documents

 

*Maintenance Technician:  These positions would report to the Tucson House. 

Assist in turning units for lease up.  Patching walls, painting, removing light switch covers to prep walls for paint.  May include lifting and using tools to perform the job. 

*Customer Service Reps:  These positions would report to each amp office (Tucson House Annex, Craycroft Towers, HCD/ El Portal and Amp 3/4)

Assist in answering phones, filing, distribution of mail, distributing fliers, making copies, scanning and some computer work. 

*Custodian: These positions would report to Tucson House, Craycroft Towers and MLK. 

Duties would include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning windows, dusting, cleaning bathrooms and sanitizing the common areas of the building.

  • Number of hours per week that you are available to serve on this re-deployment assignment
  • A brief description of your skill set (for example: administrative/clerical support, information technology, finance, etc)
