Introduction

The Fleet Services Division of the Environmental and General Services Department is seeking a hardworking, motivated individual with a strong work ethic to fill the Fleet Service Attendant position.

General Description

Provides maintenance for shop, yard and fuel islands; transports vehicles; assists with vehicle in-take and disposal and provides minor vehicle servicing.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities are dependent on job location.

Maintain shop, yard and fuel islands by dumping trash, cleaning fluid spills, restocking containment and abatement supplies and disposing of used material following appropriate hazard materials instruction.

Perform weekly manual fuel tank stick measurements, adds and remove vehicle decals, inspects/transports/wash/fuel vehicles. Retrieves parts and maintains information on computer.

This position is for SECOND SHIFT from 12:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with shift differential pay of $1.00/hr for hours worked between 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education Level & Type: Less than High School

Minimum Experience Qualifications: Under 1 year of transporting vehicles and experience with waste product clean-up and disposal.

Valid and Unrestricted CDL - Class B 

Special Job Requirements

***Pursuant to A.D. 6.01-8, current City of Tucson employees who are eligible to apply for this position may apply if they meet all of the position requirements except for a CDL or applicable endorsements. A current City of Tucson employee who does not have the required license may be conditionally selected and provided written instructions that they must obtain the required license and endorsement within 60 calendar days of the conditional selection in order to be eligible for the actual promotion.  Failure to obtain the required license and endorsement within this time frame will result in the removal of the conditional selection offer.***

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with transporting light-duty, medium-duty and heavy-duty vehicles as well as hazardous material clean-up.

Selection Plan

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated on the education and work experience in their employment profile and the responses to their supplemental questions. The highest scoring applicants will then be invited to participate in an Panel Interview

Panel Interviews will be held on March 5, 2020

Upon completion of all examination processes, the highest scoring applicants will be placed on the Civil Service Employment List.  An applicant's ranking on the Civil Service list will be based on their final score which will be calculated as:      

  • 10% of your rating for education and work experience
  • 90% of your oral board interview   

This recruitment will establish a civil service list that will be utilized to fill vacancies occurring within the next 6 months.

Veterans, Native American, or Disability preference points will be added to the final score for those that are placed on the Civil Service Employment List.  If you qualify for preference points as outlined in the Employment Profile, you must hand deliver your documentation at the panel interview or email it to EGSD_HR@tucsonaz.gov. The DD 214 must be a copy that indicates characterization of service.
