Join the Environmental and General Services Department (EGSD)!! We are seeking a motivated team-oriented individual to fill the Fuel Station Mechanic position. This position is paramount in ensuring the City's fueling system stays operational.
This position will be required to work on-call/standby shifts as well as after-hours and weekend work as needed.
Maintains the operation of refueling stations by testing pressures, replacing hoses, testing emergency shut-down devices, monitoring refueling performance via computer trending, evaluating data, performing scheduled and emergency maintenance, and replacing high pressure stainless steel piping.
Maintains equipment by inspecting compressors and equipment daily, draining equipment filters, checking crankcase oil levels, maintaining fluid levels, checking dispensers, cleaning compressor skids and equipment, troubleshooting alarms, replacing or repairing gas leaks, valves, filters, fittings, and piping and overhauling compressors and gas dryers.
Maintains records, reports, and inventory by updating and reviewing daily maintenance and delivery reports, downloading meter readings, reconciling fuel usage, maintaining valve serial number list, updating written logs, drafting and updating Standard Operating Procedures, contacting vendors for pricing, maintaining parts and tool inventory lists, and managing the shipping and receiving of parts and tools.
Reviews and provides comments on construction designs, drawings, submittals, and installation proposals, and drafts and reviews requests for proposals and requests for quotations.
Minimum Education Level & Type: 6 months post High School
Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 4 years maintaining, repairing and diagnosing problems in the operation of complex electrical and mechanical systems in commercial applications.
Valid and Unrestricted Class D - Driver's License
Certification in installation, maintenance and repair of high pressure stainless piping
Compressed Natural Gas Certification
Both are required within 12-months of hire. Failure to obtain both certifications will result in failure of probation and employment will be terminated effective immediately.
Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated on the education and work experience in their employment profile and the responses to their supplemental questions. The highest scoring applicants will then be invited to participate in a panel board interview.

Upon completion of all examination processes, the highest scoring applicants will be placed on the Civil Service Employment List. An applicant's ranking on the Civil Service list will be based on their final score which will be calculated as:

This recruitment will establish a civil service list that will be utilized to fill vacancies occurring within the next 6 months.
