The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation Department is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic
to teach Hip Hop, Ballet, Tap, Folklorico, and Creative Dance
This is a non-permanent position that will work on an intermittent or seasonal basis.
Individuals in this classification may not exceed 1,300 hours in a 12 month period.
This position provides services to the patrons of the City of Tucson Parks and Recreation Leisure Class program and is responsible for planning and conducting of specialized skill acquisition classes. Please note the position of Class Instructor encompasses multiple specialized recreational areas and site locations, classes are held throughout the week, with various day and evening classes as well as on Saturdays and Sundays.
Conducts instruction in a specialized area of dance in connection with the fee-based instruction program offered to the public
Works in a recreation center setting with participants ranging in ages from toddler to adults
Provides leadership and instruction in beginning to advance techniques/movements
Provides instruction in the specialized area of dance in one or more of the following: Hip Hop, Ballet, Tap, Folklorico, and Creative Dance
Responsible for supervising 8-15 participants
Develop a syllabus for each class
Minimum Education Level & Type: 6 months post High School
Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 1 year in a specialized recreational area
Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated on the education and work experience in their employment profile and the response to their supplemental questions. The highest scoring applicants will be invited to participate in Oral Board Interviews.
The highest scoring applicants will be placed in the "Best Qualified" and "Qualified" band (grouping) and provided to the hiring department for a selection decision. An applicant's placement on this list will be based on their final score which will be calculated as:
