Analyzes and monitors local, state and national intelligence information to access developments, threat implications, trends and interrelationships
Collects and evaluates intelligence information to develop criteria to measure the reliability of such information
Monitor drug trafficking trends; identify emerging trends and officer safety issues; and prepare strategic intelligence assignments
Compiles information, analyzes findings, makes interpretations, and generates conclusions and actionable intelligence assessments for use by local and regional law enforcement agencies
Utilizes specialized law enforcement and intelligence data bases to critically evaluate information from multiple sources; determines the importance of each piece of information, synthesizes compiled data into logical framework, draws inferences, and prepares assessments and comprehensive written work products to enhance the flow of intelligence information to local and regional agencies
Collect, analyze, evaluate, produce and disseminate tactical, operational and strategic intelligence
Prepare presentations and conduct briefings to supervisors, managers, detectives and/or prosecutors concerning investigative, operational and/or strategic intelligence
Use investigative, analytical tools and word processing, graphics, and spreadsheet software to produce reports, presentations and special projects
Prepares graphs, charts (link analysis, event flow analysis, activity/transaction charting), tables and other illustrative devices for visual presentation of data
Reviews, extracts and analyzes reports relating to Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and prepares analytical reports, summaries and assessments to provide general or specific intelligence for use in investigative and planning decisions
Utilizes established intelligence analysis techniques and inductive logic to develop relationships and inferences from data
Develops inferences about the intentions and vulnerabilities of criminal or terrorist groups and individuals, their methods of operation, extent of criminal influence, and makes recommendations for investigative strategies
Supports and assists investigators directly in the compilation of analysis of confidential information regarding complex homeland security investigations
Makes sound decisions regarding which analytical techniques, methodologies, and technologies should be employed to meet the goals of the analytical task
Serve as primary or secondary Confidential Informant File Coordinator to include conducting research and analysis of potential confidential informants, preparing a written report on confidential informant, and briefing the control officer of findings. Maintain Confidential Informant files in current use and adherence to retention schedule. Maintain Confidential Informant database to include tracking, statistical analysis and reporting. Ensuring strict security of file access to the appropriate personnel. Conducts required and scheduled audits of CI files reporting directly to the section Commander
Supports investigations by participating in search warrants
Provides training and mentoring to new intelligence personnel and critiquing intelligence products for dissemination
Testify in criminal prosecutions as needed
Minimum Education Level & Type: Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 3 years relevant experience involving intelligence collection, analysis and producing written assessments and reports

The following information pertains to driving requirements for this classification with the City of Tucson. Under "Driving Level" None, Secondary or Primary, refers to the driving responsibility as it relates to the essential functions of the classification. License Type, is just that, the type of Arizona Driving License required for the classification. If the position requires a Commercial Drivers License (CDL), the endorsements will be listed under "Endorsements." Under Safety Sensitive a "Yes" means employees with this classification are subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. License Type A,B,C,D,or M may require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage. Exceptions to classification driving requirement's may exist based on position.
