Repairs, modifies and fabricates parts and assemblies for heavy duty trucks, trailers, construction equipment, machinery, utility services equipment, recreation facilities and equipment, water tanks, metal furniture, stands and fences, and performs general welding work using both gas and arc welding techniques and equipment.
Lays out, cuts, forms, forges, tempers, welds, grinds, and fits iron and steel raw stock to make parts, fixtures, tools, guard rails, bracketry, containers, tanks, special tools and equipment.
Repairs, modifies and fabricates parts and assemblies for refuse containers, loading rods, and other specialized refuse collection containers and equipment.
Utilizes blueprints, diagrams, and oral and written instructions to plan, layout and complete work tasks.
Estimates material quantities and selects and requisitions appropriate material to complete work tasks.
Reshapes, sharpens, tempers, and repairs construction hand tools such as picks, shovels, crow bars, jack hammer bits, chisels, and similar tooling.
Fabricates and repairs special wrenches, lift rods, punches, screwdrivers, drift pins, valve extensions, and other special equipment.
Repairs and fabricates steel structures, playground equipment, light poles, fences, railing, gates, bleachers, backstops, bicycle stands, storage racks and bins, walkways, trailer frames and hitches, grating, steel doors, frames, storm drains and other metal structures.
Demolishes metal structures as necessary.
Brazes or solders copper and brass materials, containers, fittings, and tubing.
Repairs and fabricates parts and assemblies of aluminum and stainless steel.
Machines parts and tooling and repairs castings and other malleable materials.
Minimum Education Level & Type: High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 3 years heavy duty gas and arc welding at the skilled journey level
Valid and Unrestricted Class D - Driver's License
Heliarc Welding Certification
Metal Inert Gas Welding Certification
Some positions require: Stainless Steel (T.I.G.) Welding Certification, Log Pipe Welding Certification, Forklift Operator Certification
