Leads Sign Fabricators in the design and fabrication of all traffic related signs, City Departments signs and decals
This is a lead position affording guidance to other positions performing the same tasks. This lead position also reviews workloads, assigns work and coaches employees with specialized instructions and practices for job accomplishments. Lead personnel may contribute to other employees' performance evaluations; assist with the hiring process by interviewing and making recommendations and providing input to supervisory staff
Prepares layouts according to municipal uniform traffic control plans and the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)
Fabricates signs in the Sign Shop through application of pressure sensitive adhesive material to metal sign blanks. Fabricates signs in the Sign Shop using digital printing equipment direct to pressure sensitive adhesive material for application to metal sign blanks. Fabricates signs in the sign shop utilizing various materials such as; 3M Reflective sheeting, vinyl, UV sheeting, and graffiti sheeting
Utilizes a graphic computer system in the design and manufacturing of signs for buildings, office and employee identification
Maintains sign material inventory
Maintains programming with updates and firmware on computer and equipment
Maintains, repairs or replaces parts on plotter per tech support instructions
Coordination of Tech support for system troubleshooting and failures
Coordinates and schedules staff to perform fabrication of signs
Organizes product delivery with customer and supervisor
Oversees the assignments and sign manufacturing schedules
Instructs and oversees staff in performing work associated with sign layout and production process
Trains and educates new and existing staff members on work and production methods
Inspection of Sign Shop inventory to ensure quantities of materials and signs are available for sign installers
Record keeping related to sign specifications, work requests, materials, labor expenditures, job status, estimates and proposed or completed projects
Minimum Education Level & Type: 6 months post High School Diploma
Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least four years designing and fabricating commercial signs, at the skilled journey level
