LEAD WELL MAINTENANCE MECHANIC (#4092)

General Description

Leads well maintenance mechanics in constructing, installing, repairing and maintaining well sites to run efficiently and in sound condition.

Essential Functions

This is a lead position affording guidance to other positions performing the same tasks. This lead position also reviews workloads, assigns work and coaches employees with specialized instructions and practices for job accomplishments. Lead personnel may contribute to other employees' performance evaluations, assist with the hiring process by interviewing and making recommendations and providing input to supervisory staff.

Maintains deep well lineshaft turbine and submersible water pumps and other well equipment. Diagnosing problems, and initiating repairs.

Maintains and upgrades piping and vessels by designing, layout out, fabricating, and installing piping, valves, vessels, and related components, excavating, forming and pouring concrete masonry, operating cranes, and surveying areas.

Maintains enclosures by designing, laying out, and procuring materials, scheduling equipment and services and excavating, installing, and repairing fencing and walls.

Fabricates steel structures by designing, layout out, and procuring materials, fabricating, assembling and installing steel structures, and painting and coating structures.

Maintains records of inspections, purchase requisitions, blue prints and diagrams.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education Level & Type: 6 months post High School

Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 2 years in well maintenance and repair

Valid and Unrestricted CDL - Class A

Special Job Requirements

Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Water Distribution Grade 1 Certification

Under Safety Sensitive a "Yes" means employees with this classification are subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. License Type A,B,C,D,or M may require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage. Exceptions to classification driving requirement's may exist based on position.
