Plans, assigns and supervises the work of a multi-craft work unit responsible for the repair and maintenance of water distribution assets with an emphasis on pipeline and structure corrosion control equipment and facilities.
Assists with the implementation, evaluation and interpretation of department policies, projects and procedures.
Manages, coordinates, and determines priorities of work load, monitoring levels of resources, establishing time lines, assigning work, monitoring progress, recommending changes and suggestions, writing, reviewing and editing reports prepared by staff, and approving completed projects and reports.
Maintains, monitors and evaluates corrosion control of water pipelines, structures and related facilities.
Plans and administers preventive maintenance programs; coordinates the utilization of corrosion control systems, performs data analysis and evaluates corrosion control of water pipelines, structures and related facilities.
Reviews material performance and recommends protective coating systems for use on water pipelines, structures and related facilities. Coordinates work with contractors, public and private agencies, externally owned utilities, and other City staff.
Participates in the preparation of specifications and analysis of bids for construction projects, purchase of material and equipment. Maintains records and prepares reports and recommendations on the need to protect and replace water infrastructure.
Reviews design and construction plans of proposed facility installations; estimates labor, equipment and material requirements for the installation and maintenance of facilities.
Minimum Education Level & Type: 6 months post High School
Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 4 years of experience in the maintain of metallic pipeline or metallic structure corrosion monitoring systems
Valid and Unrestricted Class D - Driver's License
Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Water Distribution Grade 1 Certification
Cathodic Protection Tester (CP Tester) certification through the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE)
