Occasionally directs helpers, assistants, seasonal employees, interns, volunteers or temporary employees and may temporarily act in a higher capacity. Responsible for the training of volunteers
Maintains appropriate communication and works effectively with senior citizens; provides participants with social services information and referrals. Publicizes programs and services
Plans, organizes, schedules, and facilitates meal planning
Coordinates with food caterer and contracted caterer to ensure participants meet basic daily nutritional requirements, which may include prepping and assisting with cooking of meals
Orders meals and necessary supplies
Maintain and provide accurate records and reports as required by the City and Area Agency on Aging (PCOA)
Attends meetings as required
Responsible for ensuring the program maintains high standards of sanitation and safety; oversees the cleanliness of kitchen, monitors the correct temperature for food being transported and maintaining proper food portion control. Assists with emergencies in a calm and effective manner
Assist with the serving of meals
Ensure all volunteers meet the food handler’s standards and certification program with Pima County
Minimum Education Level & Type: High School or equivalency
Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 6 months experience in food service and handling

The following information pertains to driving requirements for this classification with the City of Tucson. License Type, is just that, the type of Arizona Driving License required for the classification. If the position requires a Commercial Drivers License (CDL), the endorsements will be listed under "Endorsements." Under Safety Sensitive a "Yes" means employees with this classification are subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. License Type A,B,C,D,or M may require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage. Exceptions to classification driving requirement's may exist based on position.
