SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER (#2759)

General Description

Manages and coordinates transportation planning programs and projects by supervising personnel and directing the operation of the Transportation planning section.

Distinguishing Characteristics

Individuals within this position require the ability to manage and monitor work performances by directing subordinate supervisors, additionally they must be able research/compile data. The position reports to Transportation Planning Administrator and is an exempt position.

Essential Responsibilities/Duties

Supervise the planning, Neighborhood Resources and Bike & Pedestrian section personnel by planning and assigning work and projects, counselling and assisting employees, approving training opportunities, providing training and resolving issues

Manages projects by meeting with related parties, identifying the needs and problems of the project, and determining timelines

Prepare cost estimates

Prepares and reviews plans and specifications

Discuss project parameters, resolve conflicts and clarifies reviews

Conducts project reviews and ensures compliance with codes and policies  

Performs related duties as assigned or requested.   

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Skill in communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience

Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand

Skill in active learning by understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision

Skill in identifying complex problems and reviewing related  information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions

Knowledge of program planning and implementation

Knowledge of project control and cost estimating techniques

Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in related field and five (5) years of directly related experience.

*Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Environment/Working Conditions

Incumbent will be experience frequent office noises, and well as occasional exposure to outside elements on way to various work meetings/job locations.
