Plans and designs networks by projecting long and short-term technological needs and utilizing advanced planning techniques.
Installs and maintains operating systems and networks by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing networks, servers, hardware and software, monitoring and adjusting system performance, maintaining network security, providing technical support and expertise, installing and maintaining servers, ensuring conformity to installation standards, laws, and agreements and installing, modifying, debugging, and maintaining software.
Procuring essential software and hardware, researches bids, and quotes and creates new forms, charters, and budgets.
Assists clients and users by providing training and technical assistance, advising technical staff, configuring networks and software applications, and troubleshooting problems.
Assesses and modifies networks by developing specifications, preparing recommendations, researching information, developing documentation to support designs and programs, and creating and analyzing system reports.
Performs large scale statistical analysis on database information and develops work priorities for budgetary purposes based on statistical analysis.
Develops backups and network data integrity and disaster recovery procedures.
Performs traffic studies and adjusts traffic control equipment to optimize traffic flow.
Manages and maintains traffic volume counts, turning movements and accident and warrant databases.

The following information pertains to driving requirements for this classification with the City of Tucson. License Type, is just that, the type of Arizona Driving License required for the classification. If the position requires a Commercial Drivers License (CDL), the endorsements will be listed under "Endorsements." Under Safety Sensitive a "Yes" means employees with this classification are subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. License Type A,B,C,D,or M may require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage. Exceptions to classification driving requirement's may exist based on position.
