The Lead Communications Engineer plans, designs, manage, and monitor communications systems and infrastructure. Lead Communications Engineer is a lead position affording guidance to other positions performing the same tasks.

Communications Engineer is a lead position affording guidance to other
positions performing the same tasks. It is distinguished from other
classifications in the family by performing the highest level of complexity and
difficult tasks or assignments
designs, manage, and monitor communications systems and infrastructure. Assists
with design, procurement, installation, and maintenance of communications
and prioritize day-to-day tasks and review and assign work requests to ensure
efficient operation of the team and timely completion of high priority
organize, and guide teams involved in large and/or complex communications
system planning, design, and development projects.

from senior management, customers, and senior technical staff.

Plans and designs wired and wireless data paths between and
within City facilities. Lead Communications Engineer manages FCC licenses for
Tucson Telecommunications Standards: NFPA, NEC, TIA/EIA, and BICSI standards.
Time and Project
LEVEL & TYPE: Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent (Degree Area):
Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Electronics Engineering,
Network Engineering, or related engineering field.
At least six years of progressively responsible experience
installing, operating and maintaining communications infrastructure and
systems, and participating in planning and design.
& EXPERIENCE EQUIVALENCY: Any combination of training, education,
and work experience equivalent to 10 years of relevant experience
may be acceptable.
This position operates in a professional office
environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment, such as
computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. This
position would require the ability to Sit, Stand, Bend, Reach, View monitors,
use repetitive motions, as well as Talking, Listening, Customer/Client Contact.
