General Description

The primary functions of the position consist of supervising a team of web developers in resolving problems, setting policy, administrative procedures, security, and website planning and direction.

Develops, administers and maintains the City's Internet and Intranet web serves and sites.

Lead development of web applications, coordinating with database administrators and software developers.

Essential Functions

This position is a first-level supervisor in the IT family of classifications.  

Regularly directs or supervises the work of at least two fulltime employees at the supervisor level in the section.

Coordinates assigned personnel and their projects ensuring timely and quality activities for the benefit of the section, division, department, City and the community.  

Administers and maintains the city of Tucson web infrastructure.

Administer and maintain content server and develops websites/projects in the City's content management system, Drupal.  

Administers, installs, maintains, and troubleshoots web server software and web application problems.  

Plans, analyzes, and recommends web server software upgrades.  

Evaluates vendor products for web hardware and software, and makes recommendations for purchases that are consistent with short and long term Information Technology and City strategy.  

Develops using current web technologies (examples - HTML5, PHP, CSS, and FLASH).

Ensure the stability and uptime of web environment.   Plans, analyzes and recommends direction for the City's web presence.

Develops plan and strategy to achieve vision.  

Optimizes search engine results for both internal and external search services. Keep City of Tucson current in web requirements and new technology and optimize navigation and information architecture.  

Performs administrative duties by preparing and reviewing reports and correspondence, reviewing and developing policies and procedures, providing advice, researching and analyzing information.  

Must be able to obtain and maintain TPD Security Clearance.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education Level & Type: Bachelor's Degree

Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 5 years in Web development, administration and design

Driving Requirements

The following information pertains to driving requirements for this classification with the City of Tucson. Under "Driving Level" None, Secondary or Primary, refers to the driving responsibility as it relates to the essential functions of the classification. License Type, is just that, the type of Arizona Driving License required for the classification. If the position requires a Commercial Drivers License (CDL), the endorsements will be listed under "Endorsements." Under Safety Sensitive a "Yes" means employees with this classification are subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. License Type A,B,C,D, or M may require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage. Exceptions to classification driving requirement's may exist based on position.
