General Description

Responsible for all aspects of GIS data entry and map production. Reads and interprets source documents such as civil engineering plans, plot maps and legal descriptions and enters required data into the GIS database.

Essential Functions

Updates and maintains GIS databases using ArcGIS and other GIS related software.

Assists in developing and implementing GIS applications for database maintenance and map output.

Generates various GIS products for engineering, planning and research projects.

Uses GIS applications to query, analyze, display and interpret department GIS databases.

Performs quality control of GIS attribute and spatial data. Converts paper and cad data into a GIS format.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education Level & Type: Bachelor's Degree

Minimum Experience Qualification: Under 1 year of experience with GIS software and query languages, knowledge of automated mapping and GIS including ESRI's ArcGIS software, GIS relational database issues, general database concepts, theory and principles of GIS software manipulation, usage requirements and analysis of system outputs and computer system opertations

Driving Requirements

License Type, is just that, the type of Arizona Driving License required for the classification. If the position requires a Commercial Drivers License (CDL), the endorsements will be listed under "Endorsements." Under Safety Sensitive a "Yes" means employees with this classification are subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. License Type A,B,C,D,or M may require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage. Exceptions to classification driving requirement's may exist based on position.
