Leads and coordinates technology strategies and programs for a department or business unit. Analyzes and evaluates the Department's need for new or improved technologies and coordinates the development and implementation strategies, including budget and resources, with all stakeholders and ITD.
This job reports to: Reporting supervisor dependent on area of assignment.
Leads coordinates, and determines priorities of business unit technology workload, monitoring levels of resources, establishing timelines, assigning work, monitoring progress, recommending changes and suggestions, writing, reviewing, and editing reports prepared by staff, and approving completed projects and reports.
Assists in the development and delegation of responsibilities for the creation of compliance reporting tools.
Seeks opportunity to initiate improvement in business unit organizational and technical processes to increase effectiveness while ensuring that integration into City systems meets functional requirements and maintains system compliance.
Leads cross-functional technical user groups with other divisions and departments.
Leads the work of an interdepartmental team to implement technology vision and helps align and track progress through multiple strategic planning efforts in cooperation with the Information Technology Department.
Manages large scale business unit technology projects in coordination with all stakeholders to include associated vendors through established business agreement processes.
Assists with the implementation and evaluation of strategic plans, programs, policies, projects, and work activities to coordinate and synchronize with department directions and goals.
Oversees the planning, implementation, direction and management of all functions and resources of the business unit to achieve the strategic objectives of the department and the City in an efficient and effective manner.
Assists with implementing the department vision through division activities and leads the section for maximum employee productivity and morale through hiring, disciplining, evaluating employee performance, investigating and resolving grievances and other human resources actions.
Develops and administers the section budget with staff assistance.
Analyzes organizational and community needs, analyzes trends, reviews statistics and opportunities, and communicate information to department leadership of impending developments, and accomplishment of actions.
Minimum Education Level & Type: Bachelor's Degree
Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 3 years of experience in developing and managing technology programs, business analysis, project management, information technology, or related functional areas. At least 2 of required 3 years in Lead or Supervisory capacity in a related functional area.
"Lead" is defined as leading at least one (1) full-time FTE in a work unit. It does not include leading projects, departments, contractors, interns, etc.
"Supervisory" is defined as having supervised at least one (1) full-time FTE.

The following information
pertains to driving requirements for this classification with the City of
Tucson. Under "Driving Level" None, Secondary or Primary, refers to
the driving responsibility as it relates to the essential functions of the classification.
License Type, is just that, the type of Arizona Driving License required for
the classification. If the position requires a Commercial Drivers License
(CDL), the endorsements will be listed under "Endorsements." Under
Safety Sensitive a "Yes" means employees with this classification are
subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. License Type A,B,C,D,or M
may require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals
must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid
license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for
City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a
City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.
