General Description

Processes and runs computer production jobs in the City's data center using mainframe and minicomputer systems. Takes corrective action when problems occur with production runs, runs batch processing jobs, executes the daily production schedule and delivers production output.

Essential Functions

Processes and runs production jobs and outputs by ensuring materials and equipment are available, preparing tapes, filing, analyzing, scheduling and preparing jobs, locating and establishing files and required information, coordinating printing and recording job completion, running requests, replying to messages, ensuring accurate parameters, monitoring output, ensuring that no errors occur, finishing output and contacting users, releasing and submitting jobs and mounting tapes.

Monitors computer activity by monitoring hardware, responding to messages and errors, mounting tapes and following proper procedures for various problems.

Resolves production problems by reviewing documentation, processing requirements and instructions, recording production messages, creating reports, contacting and requesting assistance and communicating delays.

Completes and maintains logs and reports, files, maintains supplies, reports shift status, prepares reports, and cleans and rearranges rooms as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education Level & Type: Post 6 month High School

Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 1 year experience in mainframe and minicomputer systems operation

Driving Requirements

License Type, is just that, the type of Arizona Driving License required for the classification. License Type A,B,C,D,or M may require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.
