Regularly directs or supervises the work of at least two full-time employees at the supervisor level in the section.
Oversees the prosecution of criminal cases by reviewing cases for assignment to special litigation teams, coordinating trial calendars, jail transport lists, and witness availability, redistributing case loads as needed, negotiating with unrepresented defendants or counsel, preparing documents for continuance or dismissal of cases, directing and reviewing legal research, following up with defendants and determining if further prosecution is necessary, and discussing cases and legal issues with other attorneys.
Initiates litigations by preparing documents to initiate the case, reviewing cases, providing direction for continued investigations, reviewing and verifying facts, identifying legal problems, conducting research, and conducting bench and jury trials.
Acts as a liaison to police and other departments by attending meetings, reviewing proposed code enforcement for potential legal issues, providing guidance on investigative approaches, giving legal advice, and drafting local ordinances as needed.
Coordinates training by scheduling classes, and training personnel on case management, court procedures, changes in legislation, trial techniques, and policies and procedures.
Performs related duties by reviewing documents for the council, managing grant applications and budget programs for specially funded units, evaluating the performance of personnel, making salary adjustments and assigning tasks.

License Type A,B,C,D,or M may require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.
