General Description

Connects the City of Tucson with residents, neighborhoods, businesses, and organizations by acting as a liaison and facilitation communication, particularly among communities that are historically underserved or underrepresented in city decision-making.

This job reports to: supervisor is dependent on are of assignment

Essential Functions

Engages residents, neighborhoods, businesses, and organizations in City of Tucson initiatives, resources, programs, and projects by establishing friendly relationships and rapport with members of the public.

Collects data and feedback from the community, including but not limited to conducting interviews, surveys, and focus groups; canvassing; tracking and reporting comments, concerns, and questions; and logging outreach activities.

Disseminates flyers, yard signs, surveys, or other outreach materials to engage and inform community members.

Participates in meetings, events, and other relevant public forums in collaboration with city staff and/or partnering agencies and coalitions to gather insight and help pinpoint community needs.

Relays information gathered to staff, highlighting community-identified needs.

Advises on outreach methods and communication materials to ensure engagement is accessible, effective, creative, and culturally appropriate for targeted communities.

Maintains familiarity with relevant city initiatives, policies, and resources by participating in project-specific and ambassador program trainings.

Driving Requirements

The following information pertains to driving requirements for this classification with the City of Tucson. Under "Driving Level" None, Secondary or Primary, refers to the driving responsibility as it relates to the essential functions of the classification. License Type, is just that, the type of Arizona Driving License required for the classification. If the position requires a Commercial Drivers License (CDL), the endorsements will be listed under "Endorsements." Under Safety Sensitive a "Yes" means employees with this classification are subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. License Type A,B,C,D,or M may require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage. Exceptions to classification driving requirement's may exist based on position.
