Introduction
These are
grant funded summer-seasonal positions designed to focus on community
enhancement and blight elimination. Recent
position expansion is designed to provide exposure to expanded areas of the
city for the purpose of career exploration as an option (additional information
below).
Nature Of Work
An
employee in this class is responsible for performing general grounds
maintenance tasks consisting of litter abatement, and the rights of way
maintenance such as mowing, edging, trimming and other basic landscaping.
On-the-job training will be provided for the usage of a variety of hand tools
including shovels, hoes, rakes and wheelbarrows. Safety training and the proper
use of motorized line trimmers, edgers, blowers and lawn mowers will also be
part of the program.

QUALIFICATIONS- East Tampa only:
Applicants must: Be between the age of 16-19 years old,
enrolled in the Hillsborough County School system, and must live in one of the
following East Tampa

Be
able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check and drug test.
Work Dates and Hours of
operation: The Summer youth program will provide employment opportunities from
Monday, June 10, 2024 - Friday, August 2, 2024. Hours of operation will be from 6:30 am to 3:00pm, with a 1/2 hour lunch break.
Uniforms: The City of Tampa will provide Steel toed work
boots and 4 tee shirts.
