An employee in this class performs diverse supervisory and
administrative tasks directing the programming and/or maintenance of assigned
parks and recreation facilities within the overall Parks and Recreation system,
serving a group of neighborhoods, conservation areas, urban relief areas,
and/or major parks and related facilities.
Work is of considerable difficulty and involves planning,
organizing, scheduling, and coordinating programming and/or maintenance
activities for recreation complexes, community centers, playgrounds, and parks
within the assigned area.
Employees evaluate personnel, equipment, materials, and
programming and/or maintenance requirements, and coordinate resources as
needed.
Employees perform supervisory tasks including evaluations, training, discipline, work orders, and record maintenance.
Flexible hours

Plans, organizes, and coordinates programming and/or
maintenance operations; ensures compliance with standards; promotes community
participation.
Coordinates staff recruitment, training, and supervision;
maintains records; prepares budgets and reports.
Conducts inspections and ensures facility maintenance;
responds to employee concerns and performs related work.
Extensive knowledge of: Parks and Recreation programming
and/or maintenance operations.
Ability to: supervise staff, maintain records, prepare
reports, and coordinate services.
Primarily field work with occasional sedentary office work.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a
bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation administration or a related field,
and five (5) years of experience in the planning, delivery, and/or
administration of Parks and Recreation programs and services, including
aquatics or aquatics maintenance, parks maintenance, horticulture, special
events, athletics, or athletics maintenance, gymnastics, dance, rowing, and
marina operations; with at least two (2) years of supervisory experience.

An equivalent combination of education (not less than
possession of a high school diploma/GED), training and experience that would
reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted above.
Valid Florida driver’s license required. First Aid, CPR, and
CPRP preferred.
