programs for the operation of a wastewater treatment facility. Bargaining
unit position.
Nature Of Work
An employee
in this class
is responsible for scheduling inspections and monitoring industrial and commercial use of the city’s sewer system for compliance
with the municipal sewer ordinance.
Work is of
more than average difficulty involving the collection of wastewater samples for
laboratory analysis. As a result of periodic visits and analyses of the samples
obtained, employees determine industrial waste loading and develop information
for user cost and industrial cost recovery systems. As industrial and
commercial plants plan to introduce new production processes or activities, an employee in this class reviews the proposed pretreatment systems and through the
exercise of reasonable initiative and independent judgment makes
recommendations for implementation. Under general supervision, assistance is also provided in the field collection of water quality
samples related to problems with the sewer system or treatment plant. The city
and various regulatory agencies will use results from water quality sampling and testing. Lead worker responsibility may be exercised over a number
of employees on a task basis.
Work is reviewed through
conferences, reports submitted, and results
obtained.
An employee in this
