collection vehicles. The responsibilities are extraordinarily challenging, with
employees operating under general oversight. The individual is expected to
demonstrate considerable initiative and independent judgment in adhering to
established rules and regulations. Attention to safe driving practices is
crucial, as the position involves navigating through high-traffic areas, which

monitored both during the execution of tasks in the Routeware platform and upon
completion through direct observation and the outcomes achieved.

manual and automated loading and unloading equipment; services containers at
designated sites. Conducts digital pre-trip and post-trip inspections for all
assigned vehicles and manages routing electronically through the Routeware,
Fleet Management, and Engagement platform via a tablet. The role aims to

customer base, and promote sustainability. Reports any maintenance needs for
prompt attention at the start and end of each shift, ensuring vehicles are
adequately equipped, serviced, and cleaned. Performs routine and minor
maintenance tasks, including checking tire pressure, motor oil, fuel, hydraulic
oil, and bleeding brake air tanks. Participates in in-service training focused
on vehicle and operational safety, operations procedures, and maintenance
practices. Utilizes the vehicle radio in accordance with standard protocols,
completes daily reporting, and informs the immediate supervisor of any
violations related to solid waste regulations.
A foundational
understanding of Front-Load/Roll-Off operations is preferred, particularly in
the areas of both automatic and manual loading of solid waste collection
vehicles, including compactors and containers. Adherence to all occupational
safety standards and relevant safety protocols in accordance with Departmental
and City of Tampa policy is essential. Candidates should possess the ability to
effectively operate solid waste equipment, comprehend and execute both verbal
and written instructions, and handle equipment with complex mechanisms that
require dexterity and excellent hand-eye coordination. The role demands
physical strength and endurance to perform tasks in various weather conditions.
Additionally, the ability to prepare and submit oral, written, and digital
reports clearly, concisely, and accurately is required. Establishing and
maintaining productive working relationships with a diverse range of internal
and external stakeholders is also crucial. Proficiency in the safe operation,
efficiency, and maintenance of all Roll-Off solid waste collection equipment is
necessary.
Graduation from an accredited high school or technical/vocational
institution, or a minimum of three (3) years of experience in solid waste
collection, particularly with Front-Load/Roll-Off solid waste collection
vehicles; alternatively, a comparable mix of education and experience may be
considered. The essential experience required for this role should focus on
operating Front-Load/Roll-Off trucks. Must have an exemplary safety record, with no preventable
incidents/accidents in the preceding 12 months. Ability to adhere to department/city
policies and rules set forth; promotes the department's safety standards; does
not take inappropriate risks.
