Nature Of Work
The Police Data Analyst must have a thorough knowledge of standards and methods
of statistics and research techniques used to conduct
statistical analysis and determine data integrity. The analyst
must have the ability to acquire and maintain general
knowledge of department policy and criminal investigation techniques. The analyst must have the ability to acquire competent
excellence in the use
of departmental computer
applications, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), the most
current version of Microsoft Office Suite,
open source searching and departmental reporting systems to assist in the analysis function.
The analyst must have the ability to determine pertinent information to extract from police systems
and open source
to analyze statistical data in order to
draw sound conclusions. The analyst
must have the ability to prioritize and keep accurate
and
detailed records. The analyst must have the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and
respectfully, both orally
and in writing, with law enforcement personnel
and the public.
Examples of Duties
Determine improved
methods of data collection, coding, sharing, and analysis as well as on
organizational and operational aspects of agency-based technology for compiling
crime information.
Deliver data integrity
and ethical reporting of crime training to department supervisors. Evaluate the
effectiveness of the training to ensure the expectations and skills delivered
during the training are transferred into the workplace and are enabling
improvements to crime data integrity.
Responsible for writing
computer code and measures in Power BI which utilizes both M-code and DAX.
Coordinate conversion
efforts from police databases into Power BI.
Performs related work as
required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Extensive knowledge of: Power BI, DAX, M-code, SQL database languages
in an enterprise enviroment. Knowledge
of how to build and develop paginated reports within Microsoft Power Suite. Knowledge of compiling multiple database
formats into the Microsoft Power Suite. Knowledge of Python to build automation
process for data management. The ability to use automated law enforcement records management
systems and standard computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, databases, and email.
Statistical methods, research concepts
and techniques. Computer techniques, statistical application, and capabilities.
Ability to: develop, prepare and present
detailed analytical reports
for management use; Develop
and deliver training and impart the importance of data integrity to a variety
of audiences; learn Summary and Incident based crime reporting
procedures and regulations; exercise
independent judgment; adapt to changing protocols and shifting priorities in a fast-paced, professional environment;
maintain the utmost confidentiality regarding privileged information and remain
professional regarding highly sensitive topics.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate’s
degree or higher in computer science, data analytics, statistics or a related
field and one (1) year of progressively responsible experience in computer
programming, systems analysis and/or database administration.
Licenses or Certifications
Certification by State of Florida to perform and maintain functions in the Florida Crime Information Computer or ability to obtain within six (6) months. Possession of Microsoft
Power BI, and/or SQL certifications preferred.
Examination
Evaluation of education and experience. Drug testing is included in all pre-employment processing.
