Plans, promotes, and conducts theatre arts activities.
Performs in a variety of theatrical programs. Rehearses and performs in touring theatrical productions; plans, organizes, promotes and conducts theatre workshops, classes, and camps; designs, builds and paints all necessary props, set pieces, and costumes for each touring production; conducts sessions at meetings, workshops, and training clinics; serves as a liaison and promotes Creative Arts Theatre programming throughout the community; performs related work as required.
Considerable knowledge of: Acting and theatre production.
Working knowledge of: Rehearsal and performance process and protocol; theatre production; the use and care of tools and equipment pertinent to theatre production.
Some knowledge of: Arts administration; public relations principles and practices.
Ability to: Rehearse and perform when on tour; plan, organize, and oversee specialized theatre education initiatives; stimulate interest and enthusiasm of various age groups in theatre; organize and execute work independently as well as collaboratively; perform duties requiring physical strength and endurance; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
Instructional ability: Passion for theatre education and some teaching experience preferred.
Skill in: Acting; theatrical design; theatrical construction; use and care of pertinent equipment.
Graduation from an accredited high school and completion of one (1) year of college and one (1) year of experience in educational theatre and/or visual art education, preferably in an instructional capacity; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred requirements:
Graduation from an accredited college/university with a Bachelors degree and two (2) years of experience in educational theatre and/or visual art education, preferably in an instructional capacity.
