Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs small and large capacity finished and raw water pumps and motors used in the water treatment process; identifies and corrects causes of mechanical and electrical failures of equipment.
Maintains and repairs valves and actuators that are controlled pneumatically, hydraulically or electrically; maintains and repairs diesel and turban driven emergency generator systems and equipment.
Interprets and prepares sketches and operating procedures for mechanical and electrical system layouts and installations; maintains, modifies and repairs electrical fixtures and basic power machine circuitry up to 240 volts; installs and aligns large and small direct and indirect coupled pumps, motors, gear boxes, and other shaft driven equipment.
Performs specialized maintenance and repair to: water treatment chlorinators; lime slakers; ozone, ammonia and fluoride systems; sludge processing equipment.
Performs welding using Mig and Tig welders; operates lathes, milling machine, radial drill press, and other machine shop equipment.
Performs data input of information into computerized maintenance management system.
Performs related work as required.
Considerable knowledge of: standard tools, methods, materials and practices utilized in the industrial maintenance field.
Working knowledge of: occupational hazards in the industrial maintenance field and appropriate safety precautions.
Ability to: act in a lead capacity and plan, organize and oversee the activities of other employees; read and interpret specifications and blueprints used in the mechanical and electrical industrial field; identify the causes of mechanical and/or electrical equipment failure and make prompt and correct repairs; operate lathe, milling machine, radial drill, band saw and other machine shop equipment; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the general public.
