Plans, organizes, coordinates, and supervises programming, custodial and grounds maintenance activities for a community rowing center and adjoining park amenities and/or park or group of parks. Assigns, schedules, trains, supervises, and review the work of subordinates; completes performance evaluations; administers discipline; recommends hiring, promotions, and transfers; responds to grievances; interprets rules, regulation, policies and procedures for staff; plans and conducts staff meetings.
Ensures compliance with applicable safety, maintenance and programming practices and standards. Collects, tracks, and deposits fees; manages attendance and financial records.
Coordinates the provision of resources including supplies, tools and equipment. Solicits active interest, participation and the support of neighborhood and community groups.
Organizes, promotes, and evaluates programs, classes, and special events designed to meet community needs. Creates and promotes a team atmosphere within the department.
Performs related work as required. Prepare attendance lists / emergency contacts / safety video / feedback forms for instructors.
Coordinate with all patrons for boathouse activities.
Design and implement trailer plans for loading of boats for fixtures.
Supervise the loading of boats and equipment on and off trailers.
Assist staff in the coordination of park wide events.

- Efficiently locate, identify and assess any potential and existing problems with the boathouse.
- Serve as the main contact for boathouse repairs and maintenance by coordinating logistics with engineers and contractors.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage short and long term tasks and prioritize workload.
- Demonstrate initiative by being a proactive problem solver.
- Work both individually and on a team.
- Manage water access to the park as well as vendors associated with aquatic activities and boathouse operations.
- Move about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movement from place to place within the park.
- Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
- Lift, carry and push up to 25lbs regularly, 30-35lbs frequently and up to 50lbs occasionally.
- Ability to stand for the entire work day.
- Work in wet and slippery conditions.
Implement an emergency weather plan for all on-water users.
- Work for long hours in a hot, damp, outdoor environment.
- Withstand temperature extremes in outdoor environments and inclement weather.
Comprehensive Knowledge: Participated/coached in collegiate rowing, specific knowledge of the sport of rowing and USRowing rules and practices relevant to the administration of a municipal marina, marine customs and nautical terms, particularly those pertaining to the Tampa Bay area.
Considerable Knowledge of: appropriate practices, methods, and techniques of parks and recreation maintenance and programming.
Working knowledge of: proper cash management practices, display competence of kayaking, paddle boarding and boating, the use and care of hand and power tools and equipment related to assigned areas, and Federal, State, and local regulations pertaining to vessels and waterways.
Ability to: prepare and interpret written reports and impart them effectively; implement appropriate practices, methods, and techniques of parks and recreation maintenance and programming maintain proper records; coordinate with public and private groups to develop partnerships; plan, assign, coordinate, supervise, and review the work of subordinate personnel; establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinate personnel, peers, representatives of other city departments, and the public.
Skill in: verbal and written communications.
Possession of a valid Florida driver’s license required ·
Possession of a Florida motor boat license and Lifeguarding certification within 6 months of employment.
Possession of First Aid and CPR certifications within 6 months of employment.
Possession of a Level III US Rowing Certification is desirable.
Certified Parks and Recreation Professional Certification is desirable.
