Plans, promotes, and conducts recreational programs; teaches and/or oversees fine art classes for adults, children, seniors and/or the disabled; performs in a variety of visual art programs and/or teaches a variety of fine art classes; counsels participants as necessary.
Develops and teaches classes in fine arts such as ceramics, metalsmithing, drawing, painting, printmaking glass.
Performs clerical work; prepares and submits reports; verifies purchase orders and requisitions; takes orders and purchases supplies for activities; checks in and puts supplies away; assists with inventory of supplies; receives monies from class participants and enters information into our tracking system; maintains records, logs, lists, and forms.
Inspects recreational/studio/workshop facilities and equipment to ensure safety; enforces proper safety practices, and occupational safety rules and regulations; oversees operation of assigned area in absence of higher level workers; ensures security of building.
Directs visitors at center/studio; answers phones and provides information concerning programs and use of centers.
Performs related work as required.
Working knowledge of: teaching techniques, materials, care of and use of equipment applicable to a wide variety of fine art activities.
Some knowledge of: first aid and CPR; basic records keeping.
Ability to: coordinate, teach and conduct classes and programs in fine arts; counsel and advise participants, maintain records and compile reports; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, community groups, and the general public; perform activities requiring moderate physical strength and endurance; plan and conducts fine arts programs and classes; work with all age groups and disabilities.
Skill in: administering first aid and CPR; care/maintenance of recreational equipment such as loading and unloading of pottery kilns; mixing glazes for pottery classes; operating power tools.
