Installs, maintains, services, and repairs municipal communication systems consisting of fixed and mobile base stations, BDA devices, antennas, mobile and portable radios, GPS’ and laptops.
Software installation, vehicle electrical systems, emergency lighting, 700/800 MHz trunking and P25 digital installation and service.
Checks and prepares equipment to verify that it is ready for use; loads and unloads heavy equipment and supply items; operates light automotive equipment.
Works at remote sites; handles an on call 24/7 shift for one week at a time on a rotating 7-week basis.
Completes daily time/activity reports; enters detailed description of work into a computerized work management system with emphasis on time/property/parts/cost tracking.
Documents processes, procedures and collaborates and shares acquired knowledge.
Operates radio equipment within a live active environment, using accepted protocols.
