Insures that proper observation techniques and safety of patrons at swimming areas are maintained at all times.
Performs a variety of lifeguarding tasks and enforces safety rules at a municipal swimming facility.
Performs tasks under the immediate supervision of a supervisor or higher-level aquatics leader who works very closely with the employee.
Assists in maintaining an assigned area in a safe condition.
Assists in conducting aquatics programs, preparation of standard reports and participation in maintaining an assigned area in a safe condition.
Works irregular hours including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Participates in the maintenance of area, equipment and supplies under direction of a higher level aquatic leader.
Answers phone and provide information regarding program and facility.
Performs related work as required.
Seasonal Pool Guard May 25 - August 11
Applicants must be at least 16 years or older; be able to commit to a 12-week schedule; be able to attend an 8 hour training session. Must possess a Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding (CPR/First Aid/AED) certification. Those interested in becoming certified can contact Parks and Recreation Aquatics at 274-7732 for course information. Participates in performing a variety of lifeguarding tasks, aquatic programming, and enforcing of safety rules at a municipal swimming facility.

Mangrove Marcus & Reel Fishing Camp Leaders ($10.00 - $16.00/hour) May 31 – August 3
Applicants must be at least 18 years or older; possess a high school degree or equivalent; possess a valid Florida driver's license; be able to commit to a 10 week schedule; be able to attend (2) paid training sessions; experience working with school age children in a lead capacity is preferred. Camp Director position is responsible for the organization and administration of an all-day seasonal camp for children that is focused on a natural aquatic environment, oversees day to day activities, supervises campers and subordinate staff. Must be able to perform work requiring physical stamina in an outside setting. (Camp Director position does not require Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification). Camp Leaders must be able to perform work requiring physical stamina in an outside setting, oversees the safety of campers in an aquatic environment, and is able to perform a high level of swimming ability in various aquatic settings. Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding (CPR/First Aid/AED) is required.
Aquatic Customer Service Leader 40 hours per week ($9.50 - $10.00 hour)
Applicants must be at least 18 years or older; possess a high school degree or equivalent; be able to commit to a 11 - week schedule; be able to attend (2) four hour paid training sessions. Workers will be assigned to the front desk duties at a pool. Hours will vary and may include evenings and weekends. Good customer service skills are a must. Proficient computer skills are required with the ability to use web-based software and follow formatting procedures. This position does not require a lifeguard certification.
