An employee in this class is responsible for performing assignments of more than average difficulty involving operations and maintenance of city and county bridges. Tasks require the employee to exercise reasonable initiative and independent judgment when installing, modifying or repairing various items of electrical equipment, as well as ensuring responsibility for controlling electrical emergencies. In addition, the employee is required to work with high voltage equipment. The employee supervises lower level employees. Under general supervision, the employee receives instruction orally and in writing with work being reviewed while in progress and upon completion through observation, conferences, and reports submitted.
Ability to: interpret and work from technical sketches and blueprints; locate, define, and repair defects in electrical facilities and equipment; plan, layout, install, alter, repair, and maintain a variety of electrical systems and equipment, some of which are relatively complex; understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions, establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; perform work requiring physical strength.
Mostly sedentary, indoors, occasional outdoors and lifting, requires frequent use of computer, typing and viewing a monitor.
Graduation from an accredited high school or vocational school, supplemented by college level course work preferred with at least (Seven) 7 years in electrical, engineering and or maintenance, repair and troubleshooting experience. (six) 6 months of supervisor or Lead experience preferred.

An equivalent combination of education (not less than possession of a high school diploma/GED), training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job related competencies noted above.
Possession of a valid driver’s license.
