Plans, organizes, and controls all phases of the work program for
maintenance personnel; assigns employees to jobs based on what each is
qualified to do; supervises all maintenance personnel in performance of duties;
transports material and personnel to assigned work areas; maintains work
schedules and a log of work accomplished; checks the progress and quality of
work performed.
Oversees and manages projects for the division to assure minimal disruption of services to the parking operation.
Enforces and practices safety for all employees; ensures upkeep and proper use and care of all vehicles, tools, and equipment.
Performs routine scheduled inspections of contractual custodial services, ensuring compliance with approved cleaning specifications, departmental regulations and safety requirements and reports deficiencies or non-compliance to supervisor.
Knowledge of cleaning supplies, products, equipment, and related safety procedures.
Maintains logs, records, and prepares related reports.
Performs and supervises electrical, metal, irrigation and general repairs and installation, masonry and/or carpentry work, cutting and welding.
Plans, assigns, schedules, supervises, and reviews the work of subordinates; recommends actions such as employment, promotions, transfers, demotions, suspensions, and dismissals; responds to requests for leave; completes performance evaluations and administers required discipline.
Performs related work as required.
Considerable knowledge of: maintenance, repair, and
layout of parks and recreation area; methods, tools, and techniques used in
maintenance and repair work related to assigned area; occupational hazards and
appropriate safety precautions.
Ability to: oversee and manage projects; supervise, plan, organize, and evaluate subordinate performance and initiate corrective action as needed; perform computer functions; communicate effectively and courteously with the general public when required; plan, assign, supervise, and review the work of subordinate employees; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, municipal officials; maintain records and prepare reports; lift, carry and move supplies and equipment, train subordinate employees in the performance of assigned tasks.
Mobility— frequent standing and walking; occasional sitting, access using stairs/catwalks, very frequent pushing, pulling, balancing, bending, twisting, climbing, kneeling, squatting; Lifting/Carrying—occasional 40 pounds or less; Dexterity — very frequent handling, reaching, grasping, and use of hands and confined space entry; Hearing/Talking — frequent hearing and speaking normal speech and speaking loudly over equipment noise; occasional hearing/talking on a radio; Visual — very frequent use of good overall vision, at normal or corrected to normal acuity; frequent use of depth perception and peripheral vision; occasional reading and close-up work, attention to details, monitoring equipment, detail inspection; Environmental — frequent exposure to dirt, dust, smoke, fumes, and odors; very frequent outdoors, exposure to varied weather conditions or working with hazardous materials; Emotional/Psychological — frequent concentration and working independently; Special Requirements — working overtime, weekends, nights, holidays and/or emergency call-back; occasional travel.
Evaluation of education and experience. Drug testing is included in all pre-employment processing.
