Develops, maintains, and revises the marina’s Florida Clean Marina certification as mandated by law; monitors daily check of leak alarm system; performs monthly fuel tank inspections and documents findings; maintains and updates hurricane plans for the marinas; implements and adheres to Federal Spill Control Containment policies and procedures.
Monitors all municipal transient docks including maintenance and fee transactions; is responsible for enacting slip permits, transient slip rentals, waiting lists, vessel inspections, logs for nightly slip usage, special event reservations lists, key and utility deposits as well as the maintenance of permanent records for these activities.
Operates electronic-computerized fuel system and cash register; prepares and submits closing summary reports weekly to the parks and recreation accounting division; balances all sales transactions involving cash, check and credit card activities relating to the marinas.
Responsible for bid specifications, purchase orders, inventorying, restocking, ordering and maintaining purchases of marine fuels, oil, spill containment and cleanup materials and any retail stock.
Supervises employees engaged in the upkeep and maintenance of all marina buildings and grounds; monitors and approves/disapproves boats moored in the seaplane basin; performs minor repairs of docks.
Performs related work as required.
Considerable knowledge of: practices relevant to the administration of a municipal marina, marine customs and nautical terms, particularly those pertaining to the Tampa Bay area.
Some Knowledge of: Federal, State, and local regulations pertaining to vessels and waterways.
Ability to: plan, organize, supervise and direct the work of subordinates engaged in the operation and maintenance of City of Tampa marinas and dock facilities; swim; establish and maintain working relationships with the general public and fellow employees.
Skill in: handling boats.
Possession of a valid Florida driver's license required.
Employees may be required to work rotating shifts, including
nights, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed. During periods when the
Mayor issues an emergency declaration for the City of Tampa, all employees may
be required to work in preparation, response or recovery activities related to
the stated emergency.
