The Summer Youth Intern Program will provide high school participants with a Summer Youth Internship opportunity. Students will be introduced to City career opportunities and gain valuable knowledge as they prepare for future employment. Summer Youth Interns will have an opportunity to learn more about a variety of tasks within the City of Tampa departments and will be scheduled up to 32 hours per week (Monday – Thursday).

The Summer Intern will:
Explore and learn about a variety of entry level careers within the City of Tampa.
Learn about the core functions and the essential services of the assigned city department.
Work with a mentor on real world assignments.
Attend performance management instruction and coaching lessons.
Participate in weekly interactive tours, career development workshops, and peer networking sessions.
Interact with City staff to enhance knowledge and skills required for various jobs.
Perform other related duties as required.
Summer Youth Interns will be scheduled up to 32 hours per week (Monday – Thursday).
Applicants must be at least 16 years of age.
Must be a current Hillsborough County School student; Pass pre-employment background and drug screenings; and Must be able to commit to an 8-week schedule; Must have reliable transportation to/from worksite locations; and Applicants under 18 years of age must provide parental consent forms.
Evaluation
of education and experience. Drug testing is included in all
pre-employment processing.
