Achieving Justice and Protecting the Community
The mission of the District Attorney's Office to seek and do justice by assisting law enforcement and other public agencies in the investigation of crimes, prosecuting only those crimes which can be proved beyond a reasonable doubt, ensuring a fair trial for those accused of crime as well as for victims and witnesses of crimes, advocating to the public and to the Board of Supervisors necessary improvements to the criminal justice system, and educating the public by providing prompt and accurate information regarding the activities of the office and the administration of criminal justice.

Under the direction of the District Attorney, the Chief District Attorney Investigator plans, coordinates, implements, oversees, and manages the Bureau of Investigations of the District Attorney's Office and the work involved in conducting investigations of major crimes, police fatal incidents and other investigations of criminal and civil law matters, subpoena services and crime victim assistance; conducts the more complex or sensitive investigations of criminal and civil law matters in the District Attorney's office; performs related duties as required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education
An Associate degree, or equivalent, from an accredited college or university.
Note: The possession of a Bachelor's degree or higher may be a factor considered during the rating and selection process.
Experience
Six (6) years of progressively responsible investigative experience in a law enforcement agency of which two years must be in a supervisory capacity.
Note: To meet this experience requirement, the majority of time must have been spent performing duties or supervising others who are performing duties such as gathering evidence, interviewing and locating witnesses, investigating crime scenes, and writing reports of findings to be used in court in the prosecution of defendants. Incidental investigative work which is gained through the performance of duties such as patrol, inmate custodial work, accident investigation, etc. is not considered qualifying.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
All licenses, certificates and registrations must be kept current while employed in this class.
Peace Officers must meet minimum standards concerning citizenship, age, character, education and physical/mental condition as set forth in Section 1031 of the California Government Code.
This position is an "at-will" senior management position and is exempt from the civil service.

Solano County offers a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits, offered through CalPERS. The County contribution for family coverage is $1900.58 per month for 2023. The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only or who waive medical insurance coverage. The County may offer a supplemental contribution for employees enrolled in Employee plus Two or More coverage.
Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County.
Solano County participates in CalPERS. This classification does not contribute to Social Security.
Vacation is accrued at approximately 10 days per year.
Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year.
Effective July 1 of each year, 80 hours of administrative leave is granted.
The County observes 12 full day fixed and 2 half day fixed paid holidays per year. Additionally, employees in this bargaining unit receive 2 floating paid holidays per year.
Employees are eligible to receive an additional 2.5% longevity pay, per level, after the completion of continuous service at 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35 years. Employees may receive credit for prior years of service employed with California cities, counties, joint power authorities, and other special districts as approved by the Director of Human Resources and the County Administrator.

To be eligible, applicant must have served at least 181
