Solano County Library is a progressive and innovative library with secure funding and widespread support from the community. The Library serves the community with nine branches and virtual services in six of the seven cities in Solano County with a staff of 111 employees. With its strategic location, affordable housing, natural resources, and historical significance, Solano County is a growing community with a promising future as a place to live, learn, work and play. The Literacy Program Manager plans, manages, administers, implements and evaluates the Library System's literacy program including planning, implementing and directing the adult, family and pediatric literacy programs as well as programs for adults and children who speak little or no English. The Literacy Program Manager also serves as a member of the department's management team which sets policy and direction for the library system.
The Literacy Program Manager will supervise professional, technical and clerical staff and volunteers.
The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill full-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur or the need arises.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
Two (2) years of experience in community programs as a coordinator, program developer community resource person or a literacy coordinator or assistant, AND
Education/Training:
A Bachelor's degree is required from an accredited college or university, preferably in Education, Administration, Library Science, Social or Behavioral Science or a closely related field. Posession of a Master's Degree in a related field is highly desirable.
Special Requirements:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class C California driver's license is required.
Supplemental Information:
Independent travel will be required.
Incumbents may be required to work outside normal business hours.
