The mission of the Probation Department is to protect
the community by:
·Facilitating rehabilitation of offenders and holding
them accountable

recommendations for the court

·Providing safe, secure, effective detention and
treatment programs

The Juvenile Correctional Counselor Manager assists in planning, coordinating, and managing the day-to-day operations, programs, and activities of the Juvenile Detention Facility (JDF) and all programs that are operated on facility grounds; the care, custody, and control of resident youth; and the supervision of division staff.
The incumbent would exercise management level responsibilities and control over facility administration, budget , policies, and procedures; personnel; security; health and safety; and special programs.
The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill full-time and part-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur or the need arises.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Experience: Four (4) years of experience in a correctional or probation institution, or related social service agency, in a class equivalent to, or higher than, Solano County’s Juvenile Correctional Counselor (Supervising) or Deputy Probation Officer (Supervising).
AND
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in administration of justice, corrections, criminology, social work, psychology, sociology, or a field closely related to the intent of the class.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU
Solano County offers a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits, offered through CalPERS. The County contribution for family coverage for the 2021 calendar year is $1,671.27 per month. The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only or who waive medical insurance coverage. The County may offer a supplemental contribution for employees enrolled in Employee plus Two or More coverage.
Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County.
Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement and contributes to Social Security.
Vacation is accrued at approximately 10 days per year for the first 3 years.
Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year.
The County observes 12 fixed and 2 partial fixed, paid holidays per year. Additionally, employees in this bargaining unit receive one (1) floating paid holiday(s) per year.
Employees are eligible to receive an additional 2.5% longevity pay, per level, after the completion of continuous service at 10, 20, 25, 30, and 35 years.

Extra-help employees who work less than 29 hours per week do not typically receive or accrue benefits of regular employees during their period of employment. All extra-help employees accrue .034 hours of Paid Time off for every full hour worked.

This position requires college units and completion of the Juvenile Counselor Core Course certified by the California Board of Corrections Standards and Training for Correctional Programs. All candidates must submit a copy of their official or unofficial transcripts (verifying the courses and units completed) and proof of competition of the Juvenile Counselor Core Course by the final filing deadline. Candidates who fail to submit these documents by the final filing date will be disqualified from the recruitment.
