Solano County Library is a progressive and innovative library with secure funding and widespread support from the community. The Library serves the community with nine branches and virtual services in six of the seven cities in Solano County with a staff of 111 employees. The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill full-time and part-time regular, limited term, or extra-help positions as vacancies occur or the need arises.
The Librarian (Entry) is the entry-level position of the Librarian series. The Librarian (Entry) provides general library services encompassing reference, reader advisory, and library materials selection activities to meet the general information needs of the public.
Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Experience: No experience required.
Education/Training: Possession of a Master’s Degree in Library Science from an accredited college or university is required.
SUPPLEMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Class C California driver’s license may be required for some positions.
Some positions allocated to this class may require bilingual skills.
Independent travel may be required.

Based on the information provided in the application documents, the qualified applicants may be invited for further examination and will either be pre-scheduled by the Department of Human Resources or be invited to self-schedule. All applicants meeting the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination. Depending upon the number of applications received, the selection process may consist of an initial application screening, a mandatory information meeting, a supplemental questionnaire assessment, a written and/or practical exam, an oral board exam, or any combination listed. Responses to supplemental questions may be used as screening and testing mechanisms and will be used to assess an applicant’s ability to advance in the process; as such, responses to supplemental questions should be treated as test examination responses.
