WHY WE EXIST 

Ensuring confidence in the electoral process.

Housed within the Department of Information Technology, the Registrar of Voters conducts federal, state and local elections for the County.  Additionally, the Registrar of Voters is also responsible for:

  • Register voters and maintain voter registration records
  • Develop instructional materials and administer candidate nominations
  • Ensure the timely filing of campaign disclosure statements
  • Act as Filing Officer for statements of economic interests
  • Procure polling places
  • Develop curriculum and train hundreds of poll workers
  • Provide outreach services for voter registration
  • File and verify state and local initiative, referendum and recall petitions
  • Provide voter registration and election information to candidates and campaigns
  • Maintain precinct and district maps
  • Canvass and certify the results of all elections

THE POSITION


The Elections Clerk performs a variety of routine clerical work to support County election practices. 

 

This is an Extra-Help position.  An employee appointed to an extra help must meet all the requirements of the corresponding regular position. An extra help employee is a person who is employed for the purpose of relieving or augmenting regular staffing in the accomplishment of work.  Extra help employees cannot work more than 999 hours in a fiscal year. Extra help employees are excluded from civil service and shall not have the rights to regular or continued employment.

 

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education: High school diploma or GED

Experience: Three (3) months of full-time work experience performing clerical tasks that demonstrates possession of and competency in the requisite knowledge and abilities.
