The Solano County Department of Information Technology (DOIT) invites you to apply for the position of Information Technology Analyst IV - Security in our Network and Mobility Division.
This position is responsible for the design, configuration, maintenance and operation of the security infrastructure which will include firewalls, IPS/IDS systems and Web Filtering systems.
The ideal candidate will have the following desired knowledge:
· Cisco and Palo Alto firewalls installation and Configuration
· Routing and Switching network design
· Network Performance Tuning
· Configuration and Management of security appliances
· Experience with Log Management systems
· Project Management
· Video Surveillance systems knowledge will be a plus.
The ideal candidate will have the following desired qualifications:
· Intermediate level experience in design, installation, configuration, operation, maintenance of the Cisco firewalls
· Intermediate level proficiency in Cisco IOS on s networking technologies including TCP/IP, DHCP, VLAN, various LAN and WAN technologies
· Advanced level understanding of network security methodologies, encryption domains
· Proficiency in Cisco IOS and Nexus OS to work on Cisco switches, Cisco routers, firewalls and other Cisco networking gear
· Experience with configuring Web Filtering system
· Experience with Open DNS / Umbrella DNS threat protection systems
· Intermediate level skills for troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization
· Knowledge and experience in developing network disaster recovery documentation.
· Knowledge and working experience in project management
· Experience supporting video surveillance will be a plus
· Knowledge and working level experience of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) methodology is desired
· Good written and verbal communication skills
The eligible list created as a result of this recruitment will be used to fill part-time and full-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur throughout the County. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Education: Equivalent to an Associate’s degree, preferably in information technology, or a closely related field. AND Experience: Depending upon assignment: Five (5) years of experience performing progressively responsible software development, or infrastructure management duties and functions. Note: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in information technology, management information systems may be substituted for two years of experience. Note: Additional experience may substitute on a year for year basis for the educational requirement.

Solano County offers a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits, offered through CalPERS. The County contribution for family coverage for the 2019 calendar year is $1,498.09 per month. The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only or who waive medical insurance coverage. The County may offer a supplemental contribution for employees enrolled in Employee plus Two or More coverage.
Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County.
Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement and contributes to Social Security.
The County observes 12 fixed, paid holidays per year.
Vacation is accrued at approximately 10 days per year for the first 3 years.
Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year.
Employees are eligible to receive an additional 2.5% longevity pay, per level, after the completion of continuous service at 10, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years.

Extra-help employees who work less than 29 hours per week do not typically receive or accrue benefits of regular employees during their period of employment. All extra-help employees accrue .034 hours of Sick Leave for every full hour worked.

To be eligible, applicant must have served at least 181 consecutive days of active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States and have received either an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions. A COPY OF THE DD 214, SHOWING DISCHARGE TYPE (GENERALLY COPY 4), MUST BE RECEIVED IN THE HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT BY THE FINAL FILING DATE.
