Improving the Lives of Solano County Children  

California's child support program works with parents and guardians to ensure children and families receive court-ordered financial and medical support. Child support services are available to the general public through a network of 48 county and regional child support agencies. Solano County Department of Child Support Services serves approximately 17,000 families. Some of the services provided include: locating a parent; establishing paternity; establishing, modifying and enforcing court order for child support; and establishing, modifying and enforcing an order for health coverage. 

The mission of the Department of Child Support Services is to promote parental responsibility to enhance the well-being of children by providing child support services to establish parentage and collect child support.  The core purpose is helping children enjoy life today while dreaming big for tomorrow.

The Child Support Attorney series performs a range of professional legal work in civil litigation activities of child support cases and child support enforcement.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

Active membership in the State Bar of California;

AND

for Child Support Attorney III ($113,891.16 - $138,436.08/year)- two years of experience as an attorney in the practice of public or family law or four years as a general practicing attorney OR one year of experience performing duties equivalent to a Child Support Attorney II in Solano County.

for Child Support Attorney IV ($131,000.76 - $159,232.20/year) - three years of experience as an attorney in the practice of public or family law or six years as a general practicing attorney OR one year of experience performing duties equivalent to Deputy District Attorney III or Child Support Attorney III with Solano County.

Supplemental Information:

Independent travel will be required. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid California Class C Driver’s License may be required.

Positions allocated to this class are exempt from the provisions of the County’s Civil Service ordinances. Incumbents are hired and retained at the pleasure of the appointing authority.

Incumbents may be required to work outside normal business hours.  Modified work schedules and telecommuting for up to two days may be available.

Candidates for positions in this class will be required to pass a background investigation in accordance with applicable law, regulation and/or policy.

BENEFITS/ WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?

Solano County offers a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits, offered through CalPERS. The County contribution for family coverage for the 2019 calendar year is $1,498.09 per month. The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only or who waive medical insurance coverage. The County may offer a supplemental contribution for employees enrolled in Employee plus Two or More coverage.

Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County.  

 

Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement and contributes to Social Security.  

 

Vacation is accrued at approximately 10 days per year for the first 3 years. Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year.

 

The County observes 12 fixed, paid holidays per year. 

 

Effective July 1 of each year, employees are granted 64 hours of Attorney Time Off. Effective July 1, 2016 employees are granted 80 hour of Attorney Time Off.  

 

Employees are eligible to receive an additional 2.5% longevity pay, per level, after the completion of continuous service at 10, 20, 25, 30, and 35 years.
